The merry-go-round picture on the Occupy Art facebook page caught my attention right away. When I saw the plastic horses leaping off the merry-go-round I knew exactly what the artist was trying to convey to the audience. I believe he was trying to grab the attention of teenagers growing up. He was telling them that it is okay to break away from the normal circle of life. The merry-go-round is very bright. I think this is showing that yes, life is bright but the broken poles on the merry-go-round are also, showing that it is okay to take that leap and create your own freedom. Not only does the image show the initial leap of freedom, but it shows the first opsticall. It shows the plastic horse jumping right over that bench and moving on. Overall I think this image does a great job of showing freedom and the opsticalls that could stand in the way.
