"New Rules"
Thomas L Friedman's articles "New Rules" is mainly about the strong educational system in Estonia. He presents his information and backs it up with ethos, pathos, and logos. You can tell this paper is credible because he uses quotes and states his opinion. He makes his paper appealing through pathos. One appealing quote he used was President Clintons, "work hard and play by the rules." This was very catchy. Another quote that kept me into the article was "life long learning is the key to getting in and staying in the middle class." THis interested me because I agree you have to work hard and always be learning to get to survive in this world. Another thing that made this article was his use of logos. Thomas presented many statistics to go along with his information. He mainly talked about the level of graduates and their unemployment rates. One example is that people who only have a high school degree have an unemployment rate of 8.8%. This helps support his paper and make it credible through statistics. All in all, Thomas did a good job at informing his audience through ethos, pathos, and logos.
